We have used it for timing clean up, getting ready, etc. It's super easy to use, the colors are beautiful, and it's as cute as the picture!   Well, this thing is super fun. At first having it counting down for my children made them a little bit anxious. They kept returning back to it to see if another color of the rainbow had appeared. So the way it works as you turn the little dial on the top and you decide how long you want the timer to be example 5 minutes, 10 minutes, whatever. Slowly, but surely the rainbow starts to illuminate. So this helps your children understand how much time they have left to complete a chore or maybe go to bed. The best part I think is the beautiful nightlight. My children love a nightlight and the fact that it’s a rainbow and it just looks beautiful when it’s on they loved even more. I think this was the best part of it. As I said, I did give my children a little bit of anxiety, waiting for the rainbow to illuminate, but as we used it more and more, they understood the concept. I’ve used it for them to brush their teeth, which is a cute option as well. It is a great price and it’s small and perfect for any space.

  I’d give this kid’s timer ten stars every time if that was an option. This thing is amazing! It comes with a USB charging cord (you need to supply your own block, or computer or power bank, etc.), instructions and the timer. As soon as you plug it in, it’s ready to go to work. It’s so easy even very young children can learn to use it quickly. The bright colors when the lights are on are gorgeous. But they’re not obnoxiously bright. There’s an on/off button on the back you push to “wake it up” then the little cloud knob just above the rainbow on the right side can be twisted to change the number for the amount of minutes you need. Then as it counts down those minutes it will show a different color based on the percentage of time left. It’s great for kids who need “warning time” before transitions. Also for kids to “race against” when they need to do something that isn’t their favorite task. It also has a setting for breathing in case self regulation is needed. This is a great item and I’m going to start giving this as gifts to parents of toddlers.

  Very cute and cool concept and design. As time runs out, the rainbow fills in. Visual timers are great for kids who don't yet understand numbers or have not yet developed a sense of time. The limitations however are that you can only set the timer in increments of one minute - 1, 2, 3, and so forth. I could not find a way to set 1 minute and 30 seconds. It took me some time to figure it out. It was not intuitive as I would have hoped. The knob on the top is a turn dial and it is also a button. It's small and would fit well on a tabletop or desk. All and all, it is a unique and cute visual timer.

  My youngest has been learning about time measurements recently, so I decided to pick up this timer as she's very into rainbows currently. The timer itself only has a power button on the back and a dial/button on the top, which makes it very simple for kids to operate. Turn the dial to add a minute, then press it down to start the timer. When the timer ends, it makes a not-too-loud beeping noise. As the timer progresses, sections of the rainbow light up to help show how long is left. Works great for my kids. It is rechargeable as well, so no worries about finding batteries. There are also magnets built into the back so you can attached it to places like you refrigerator. I'd give this timer a solid 9/10 with the price factored in.

  Wow, wow, wow. As a former teacher, a current parent, and an adult living with ADHD, I absolutely cannot recommend the Pal timers enough. I already have the Koala and it has been an absolute game changer for my seven-year-old’s morning routine, taking the stress out of what used to be a fight. One day I picked it up to see if it might help me with my own morning routine, and it was phenomenal how the visual representation of time remaining and time passing helped to keep me on track. So I decided to pick up this rainbow timer to use for myself. The rainbow would be good for tasks the child doesn’t really want to do. It gives a positive affirmation, with the rainbow growing, for getting through the task and earning stripes on the rainbow. The koala seems better for time boxing tasks the child doesn’t want to break away from, because it depletes in color, sort of matching the feeling of letting go of the fun and transitioning on to something else. (Maybe I'm overthinking it.)Both a magnet and hook slot on back. I now specifically search for Pal to find products by this company. They obviously get it.
